From Scratch…

Call me crazy or just too lazy to go grocery shopping but I have enjoyed starting with an empty bowl and cooking from scratch. Sometimes it adds some significant time to the meal prep but it is so worth it!

Growing up my mom set a great example by cooking from scratch and hardly ever using a recipe. I would look in the refrigerator and the cabinets and tell her we didn’t have anything to make for supper. The next thing I knew she was whipping up a homemade chicken wild rice soup or the best hotdish in Minnesota. I’d like to say I have some of her skill just from watching her. She never ceases to amaze me especially when she whips up her own french dressing from scratch and a taco salad was on the menu.

Thankfully I have the internet to give me some help! I adapted this recipe from several examples and added my own spin on it by adding maple syrup.
