Preparing for Planting

Early April always brings new hope & a new season of growth. Each fall we harvest our crops and prepare for the winter by fencing cornstalks near our cattle yard. We hate to see the summer grazing season end and the cold winter approaching but we know that access to the cornstalks will bring great joy to the cow herd.

A lot of muscle & sweat goes into putting in the fence and pulling up the fence. My brother Travis & I took up the task of putting the fence up in the fall while Steve was busy harvesting crops. My farm friend JR & I rolled up the wire and pulled the posts on a beautiful early spring day during Miss M.’s mid afternoon nap. Hard to see the fence gone but the anticipation of the crops that will be growing in its place will satisfy for now!
